With the conclusion of the G8 Summit in Hokkaido 2 weeks ago, there have been developments in the global biofuels scene.
Prior to the blame game a few months back by George W. Bush about India contributing a large part to the world food shortage because of its increasing population and demand for food, a report published by The Guardian states otherwise. It found that biofuels caused 75% of the rise in food prices from January 2002 to February 2008– it is therefore responsible for a startling 105% increase in prices over the 6 year period, apart from a weak US dollar and rising energy costs.
Check out this link– http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080708/sc_afp/g8summitclimateenergy. I think it provides an insight to the G8 stance on biofuels and policies.
